Making the most of work flexibility to volunteer.
One of the great benefits of having work flexibility is ducking out on Wednesday's at 4 pm to be a Creative Writing Volunteer with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australian kids in Redfern.
With this, I've grown to have a great appreciation for the culture and the importance of Reconciliation. This week is NAIDOC Week!
NAIDOC Week celebrates the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. NAIDOC Week is celebrated by all Australians with this year's theme, 'Care for Country' a bright and vibrant artwork that explores how Country has cared for and healed First Nations people spiritually, physically, emotionally, socially and culturally. Want to get involved?
Here are easy and cool ideas!
◙ Try cooking with native ingredients such as kangaroo, macadamia or lemon myrtle.
◙ Listen to music and podcasts from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander creators.
◙ Get creative with the kids at home with some Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art and crafts.
◙Check out the NAIDOC website for events in your area or online. It's a week we educate, celebrate and come together! During the week, I'll have my virtual background with the NAIDOC poster for all my meetings! ]
